7 Months

Jordyn Kaye, you are growing up WAY too fast. I need my baby to slow down! You have changed a LOT this month. 2 main things: you are getting more ornery and much more curious.

Stats: 15 lbs, 7 oz (10th-25th percentile), 25 1/2 inches (10th-25th percentile)

Activities this month:

Real crawling - 8/26/11/

Pulling up and standing repeatedly - 8/26/11 (constantly within the next couple of days)

Saying Momma after getting frustrated with me for not picking her up - 8/31/11 (this has not happened much and is definitely not consistent)

Crawling very quickly after things of interest - (beginning of September)

Chasing Kate and following her everywhere - (beginning of September)

Pulling up and taking up to 3 steps to get her feet straight under her (beginning of September)

Smiling huge while shaking her head (she does this to be funny and when she doesn't want something) It is almost like she is saying, "Silly Momma, I don't want that" - (beginning of September)

Finding toys that you like and trying to pull them off the shelf - 9/5/11

Waving at people (especially Momma & Daddy) - 9/10/11

Climbing up the 2 stairs at GGma's repeatedly - 9/12/11

Wanting ANYTHING that Kate has - 9/13/11

Playing peek-a-boo with daddy while holding and moving her own blanket - 9/18/11

Clapping on her own - 9/19/11

Where did the last 3 years go?

It is unreal that my "baby" is already 3 years old. Time just seems to go by faster every day. I want to take some time to write down some of my favorite things about Kate at this age.

Stats: 36 pounds, 3 ft 2 inches

Activities / My Favorite things:
1) You are very (berry) imaginitive - babies / dollhouse / tea parties / playing dress-up
2) Pretend play is extremely serious (once, Rachel took your pretend cookie and you cried and chased her to get it back)
3) You LOVE your baby sister . . . you carry her around and she loves to follow you and play with you all the time
4) You are a major Momma's girl
5) You like to tell everyone how to spell your name K-A-T-E
6) You get very proud of yourself when you accomplish anything that you are working on
7) You really enjoy playing games on Daddy's iPad - your current favorite is Dora Alphabet
8) You can button your own shirts
9) You are getting really good at tracing letters
10) You are excellent at Memory (way better than Momma)
11) You refer to cousins and friends as one in the same
12) You talk about your upcoming wedding ALOT (it makes me excited for the time when we will get to plan it together, but sad that I know it will come before I am ready
13) You talk constantly!
14) You love to see with the radio . . . your favorite songs are Tonight and Ha Ha Ha
15) You always want to give compliments . . . You say that we are pretty, handsome, and smart at least once a day
16) You refer to yourself as the "prettiest girl in the whole world"
17) You want to help with EVERYTHING . . . and I do mean EVERYTHING
18) You tell it like it is . . . ALWAYS (I am certain that this will embarrass us at some point)

Things that aren't so great, but I love them anyway:
1) You are pretty bossy (especially when telling others that they are not the boss)
2) You LOVE to argue . . . and you HAVE to get the last word.
3) You want to be right, and when you aren't, you try to bend the situation to make yourself right (I'm sure you get this from your Daddy)
4) You talk constantly
5) You want to help with EVERYTHING (yes, I realize some of these things were on both lists)

You are so precious to me and I wouldn't trade you for the world! Happy Birthday, my sweet Kate!

6 Months

It so crazy that six months have already gone by since J Baby was born. In some ways, its hard to remember a time when she wasn't here. We love you so much, Jordyn. Life just wouldn't be the same without you.

Stats: 14 lbs, 12oz (25th percentile) and 25 inches long (25th percentile)
Jordyn, you are very small. You are just fitting into size 2 diapers pretty well, and are beginning to wear size 3-6 month clothes. You can still wear 0-3 month onsies.

6 month Dr. visit: Jordyn is very healthy. Her left foot is turned slightly. We will have to watch it and make sure she is standing on it straight when she is pulling up.

Jordyn's Activities:

getting more onery and attempting to get things she shouldn't have (beginning of August)

lunging forward on a mission to get to items that she wants (beginning of August)
pulling up to knees and attempting to go up a couple stairs (8/19/11)

babbling more and making attempts at yelling at us to tell us that she needs something

eating more baby food . . . greenbeans, squash, carrots, peas, bananas

5 Months!!!

Jordyn's biggest news this month is that she is on the MOVE. It is so hard to believe that she is already old enough to be moving around, but she has just started to lunge forward. We love you so much, Jordyn!

Stats: 13lbs 12oz (27th percentile) 24 3/4 inches (40th percentile)

Jordyn's Activities this month: (A couple of these are in the days immediately following her actual 5 months)
Sitting up 6 seconds July 9th.
Sitting up 45 seconds July 12th.
Actually getting a good jump in the jumperoo July 18th.
Holding own bottle and getting it back in mouth alone (as long as she doesn't drop it completely) Mastered in July.
Playing on the floor, rolling and spinning very effectively to get to toys that she wants. Mastered in July.
Going to bed completely awake and relaxing to sleep. (No crying it out, just peacefully falling asleep with her paci and blankie) July 15th. Sometimes without paci.
Sitting up well, able to sit up and play with toys and move to her belly when she wants.
Scooting backward very well, usually in an attempt to move forward.
She can lunge forward repeatedly if there is something behind her feet.
talks to you if she wants picked up and reaches for you.

4th of July Celebrations

We love blowing up things to celebrate our country! We had fun spending the 4th in Edmond with the Prindle/Fortenberry clan.

At Home

My 2-year old brought tears to my eyes today and I had to share the story. Kate saw a picture of PaPa Nick holding her on facebook this morning. On the way to gymnastics, she was aking me about him. I asked Kate, "Where is PaPa Nick?" She quickly replied, "At home." I knew that she was confused, after all, death is a very hard concept for a little girl. So, I said, "No sweetie, PaPa Nick is in heaven with God." Little did I know, she wasn't confused at all. . . "I know Mom. He lives with God. THAT'S his HOME!" She is so right. How wonderful it will be when we are all AT HOME!
