I called this review 'A wonderful journey into calm' because this album, much like Becks latest (which arrived alongside this one) is such a soothing album. Everything these days just seems so upsetting somehow. It's all shouting, screaming, rubbing your private parts on wreckingballs, selfies and instagram photos of some 6 year old holding up a decapitated head or simply some sodding car alarm going off outside your window for 3 hours on Sunday morning.

Along then came this wonderful album, which is clever, well written and perfomed and also so incredibly calm!

I absolutely adore it and I can't reccommend it enough.

Good mix of depressing and slightly less depressing tracks. Actually, I think there's one, uplifting bouncy number, but that's your lot. A good nod to the detrimental effects of both technology and drugs on our modern lives and Hollow Ponds sends you on a nostalgic trip back through your childhood - well, it did for me! Music and lyrics are all well thought out. My favourite track is The Selfish Giant - love the jazz style piano and super misery!

Everyday Robots is heavy. It’s an album weighed down by a kind of lovelorn resignation to modern life’s challenges. It’s there from the opening moments… shuffling out of the shadows and gently clunking, twinkling and wheezing towards the lovely conclusion of ‘Heavy Seas of Love’. Damon sings of the stuff that sits wearily on his shoulders.

There’s something of early Boards of Canada’s landmark hymns to nostalgia in the tone and feel of the album. It’s dense with sound. Things click and whirr. Voices echo in and out of time. Yet the whole thing breathes. It’s open and warm and there’s space enough to climb inside to let it all wash over you. Listened to from afar, it might drift a little. The jaunty excursion of Mr Tembo aside, this is a mono-paced mooch of an album. On occasion the songs drift in to one another, woozily lurching from idea to idea.

It’s beautiful, though. Just listen. Melancholy melodies come and go. Unexpected musical twists catch the ear. The whole thing ebbs and flows. Its hands are dug in pockets and eyes are only for the ground, but its bones and heart are full of hope.

It A soulful take from albarn, and deply personal one, with the wonderful band the heavy seas, So exspect very differnt sides to him in this album. xbdx IT very good to me although it is somber music but not hard to leson to stuff, damon keeps a good balence of music that just about advoids of being sad and their picks you up again at the end. this feels of a exspresive jornnay from start to finish, and then lets you press play once again. A Human hopeful side is there and some what reveild, followed with points of views of his life that is conected with his songs, which with opend mindedness alows one to like this man more so and of his talent in the music world to day. A lovely delight of alternitive sounds, words, and rithums

This is such a wonderfully crafted album - really hard to pigeon hole. Elements are raw but always soulful, the melodies can almost be off key but just make it more emotive and the harmonies are just fantastic - for me it's up there with his best work. But a special mention has to go to The Heavy Seas - saw them perform it at the 6 Music festival and it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

The album is touted as being autobiographical but I'm guessing that the songs resonate with lots of people (although that could just be my age!) - normal life under the microscope. Too many highlights to mention but for me Hollow Ponds brings back the smells and laziness of being a kid during the summer of 76 before having to lose that innocence to reality. Love it.

By the time I decided to purchase this record (ON VYNIL!) I already knew, through listening to the songs in Spotify, that this was an instant classic. To my ears, it is already the record of the year, and I am sure I will continue to listen to it in the future. No surprise there. Well done, Damon, you're one of the big guys.

I would give this ítem 5 stars, but the stupid music industry did it again, showing new signs of its dinosauric tendency to suicide.

Why split the songs in two LPs, when in the old days a record this long fitted well in a single disc? It's a drag having to flip sides every three songs!

But the most annoying fact came when I tried to claim the MP3 files from the record company's website: the answer was that my code was no longer valid -though the card that came with the record claimed otherwise. And I tried several times. What a waste of time, and of consumer's trust.

Believe me, this is not a cheap thing to buy from Argentina.

If you act as efficiently as the Spanish Empire, don't complain about the pirates.

Good album but not great album like some reviews have said! Only my opinion though!

great cd, had it as a download from the release date but broke my external hard drive so ordered a physical copy. came like new even though i think i bought second hand

Damon Albarn est de retour ! Et pour la première fois, en solo. Difficile de croire que le leader incontesté (et incontestable ?) de Blur, Gorillaz, The God, The Bad & The Queen, Rocket Juice and The Moon, grand manitou de Africa Express, etc. n’avait rien produit tout seul, comme un grand, avant EVERYDAY ROBOTS, produit par The Richard Russell. Voilà qui est fait, et vraiment bien fait.

C’est du Damon Albarn pur jus ; Ses influences et ses différentes participations musicales se sentent aux travers des titres.

Quatre perles d’un Damon Albarn qui se montre enfin comme il est, très anglais dans sa mélancolie, touchant, doué, mais avec des larges touches mondiales glanées dans les voyages musicaux de l’Afrique à l’Asie :

‘Mr Tembo’ ou comment parler d’un éléphanteau avec l’appui d’un chœur émerveillé et une narration naïve ; ‘You And Me’ ou comment parler de son quartier, de l’énergie, des fantômes du coin et de son (ex) addiction à la drogue ; ‘Photographs (You Are Taking Now)’, simplement imparable ; et ‘The History Of A Cheating Heart’ qui est à la limite de l’intime et qui est sans aucune doute The Perle of the Perle…

Le sens de la mélodie est toujours là, c’est incontestable !

Tranquilo y muy bien realizados todos los temas. Edición muy cuidada con LP y CD incluido que recomendaría a cualquiera.

一通り聴いてみて、これは、デーモンによる裏パークライフ的なアルバムだと思いました。僕が始めて聴いたブラーのアルバムはパークライフでしたが、あの時と同じような感動を覚えました。パークライフにあったようなアッパーな楽曲はないのですが、すごくロンドンの郊外を思わせる音作りをしているように感じます。結局、ブリットポップという言葉は、この人の為にあったのかな？とすら思える作品です。メロディーラインの美しさや捻くれ方は、さすがのデーモン節炸裂ですが、疲れきった感情は成熟というより、哀愁と優しさを感じます。

素晴らしい作品です。
