My name is Elise and I have been creating and drawing for as long as I can remember. I really got interested in Art seriously when I was in high school in the 1980's. At that time I focused more fashion drawings and dreamed of being a fashion illustrator off in New York or Paris (that's a teen for you).
I graduated from high school and enrolled into the University of Washington in the mid 80's. At first I tried a major that was somewhat practical...business (but the math killed me)...then communications (didn't find this too interesting)...always looking longingly at the Art building on campus!!! I finally made the plunge and changed my major to Art!!! I took many drawing, painting, ceramic, and design courses and then... I fell in love..........Move forward a few years, I got married to the most wonderful man in the world and my best friend, Mike...then I had a beautiful baby girl, Hailey...20 months later I had another beautiful baby girl, Kyla. Dreams of art careers were put on the backburner for my most favorite job of being a wife and full time mommy.
My hubby was in grad school when the girls were little so I started to paint Christmas ornaments as a way to make a little extra money to buy Christmas gifts. That got me painting again and then a friend and I went to the Street of Dreams in about 1996 or so and I saw all the beautiful murals painted inside these homes. Hmmm...I think I could do that. Well my girlfriend, Inger was brave enough to let me use her daughter's room to experiment...and Fur Elise Designs was born.
I tried my hand at the painting business for a few years and created many fun and whimsical murals, painted furniture and painted floor mats. Many of the things I created I have posted for you to see on this website. I decided to take a break from the business to try my hand other things, mostly volunteering for PTA, church, Girl Scouts, Cheerleading and many other fun volunteer jobs.
My husband, the girls and I have decided to move forward with our next big adventure. We are starting the process to adopt a little baby girl from China. The costs involved are very high so I thought I would give the painting a try again to help with adoption costs.
